These are just basic black cheap brushes that I use a lot, one from ELF and one from Studio Tools. I have many reasons for painting the handles other than just wanting something glittery to look at :)

As a makeup artist when you are working with other makeup artist or just working around a lot of people you cannot always keep an eye on your stuff. I have had many MAC brushes stolen on photo shoots. When they all look the same you can't call someone out for having your brush.

I decided after it happened a second time to just put my mark on the brushes. If anyone else has a sparkle brush its probably gonna be mine.

Now onto the steps!

1.Take a basic brush any color I think the glitter shows up better the black brushes.

If you want to take a black polish(or whatever color your brush is) and paint over the name on the handle of the brush ie:Elf,Studio Tools,ECO Tools. Just use a light coat let it dry and then if need paint over it again. That way your brush is defiantly different from anyone else because your name is blacked out.

2.Pick you favorite glitter polish, I use the cheapest glitter from NYC or Sinful Colors.

3. Paint one coat and let it dry, if you are impatient you can use a spray top coat to help speed up the drying process.

4.Try another glitter as the second layer to give it a really pretty sparkle effect. When the light hits my brushes it will blind you heh.

5. Finish off with a top coat if you wish, I don't unless the glitter I used ends up looking dull then I use a top coat.

6.Let set overnight before you stick back into your brush roll or try and use just to be sure.

I have used a polish that has some color too it and glitter it also works pretty good I always use a topcoat in that case.

You could also use a clear polish and sprinkle glitter but I recommend keeping the glitter on the end of the brush. Even with a topcoat it is rough and doesn't make for easy use but if you have hot pink tips on your brushes you will be able to spot them a mile away :)

My mac brushes I taped off an area at the end and painted them a beautiful burgundy with silver glitter. I haven't lost any brushes since I started doing this. I do get asked a lot about my brushes so it makes for good conversation. I had a bride tell me she felt so fancy having her makeup done with brushes made of diamonds hehe.

I know ELF sold a set of glitter brushes last year sometime, and they sold old so fast I never got to see them. If you try it out let me know what you think!
