Beauty of Color by IMAN

asianbeautybook.com

These are 3 of my favorite books, and 3 books that I find that inspire me and inform me the most. If you are an aspiring makeup artist I personally feel these are a must have.

1. The Beauty of Color by Iman    Amazon.com for $17.00
Why I suggest it?
It starts with idenitfying your skin type and different skin types. Then it breaks down the Essential items that you REALLY need. It breaks down the skin types and skin issues to help find the perfect foundation. It is helpful because it covers a fair females from Brazil to Nigeria with different undertones.I also love that the looks are not just a basic smokey eye, she takes risks. I really feel like you should go out and get this book and really sit down and read it all the way through. You can go back and look at the beautiful pictures later.

2.Asian Beauty by Margaret Kimura on Amazon.com $14.00
Why I suggest it?
Another amazing book that breaks down the essential items you need.  She tells you why you need the makeup brushes and how to use them correctly. She starts off telling you about her journey becoming a makeup artist which in itself is an amazing story. She breaks down Asian Faces and how to contour and shade. She tells you the main differences you will work with, and how to shadow and what colors are best. She helps you with color matching and looks to avoid. I really enjoyed sitting down and reading this book. I have had it quiet sometime and I go back to it for references often.

3. Makeup The Art of Beauty by Linda Mason on lindamason.com for $14.95
Why I suggest it?
This is not the first time I have mentioned this book or Linda Mason on my blog. This book is amazing, just reading her journey and you can feel her passion for makeup and art. She talks about her journey with working in the industry, getting jobs, how to market yourself, how you can break in to the industry. My absolute favorite chapter and I suggest you all get this book for this chapter alone How to do Twentieth Century Look she breaks down looks starting in the 20's going on to the 90's. There are face charts and detailed information on how she got each look. She is very Avant-Garde and her chapter on Freestyling where she uses faces as her canvas and recreates Picasso paintings.
She even gives tips on your portfolio, getting jobs in TV, and finding your Niche. Check out her website at http://lindamason.com/ for her other beauty books, and her beautiful artwork!

These are just 3 that I recommend, do you own any of these?
What do you suggest I read?

*All books were purchases with my own money, and this is my honest opinion
