Big Changes

by - 1:25 PM

I have been doing some serious soul searching and have done a lot of research and decided to officially make the change to cruelty free. I will no longer purchase from companies that are known testers. I will not review products from companies that are not cruelty free. I have a lot of products that I already own from companies that are tested on animals, but I will use those up and never repurchase.

That's right, no more MAC or Urban Decay and it truly upsets me to say that. I knew MAC went to the dark side but to see that Urban Decay the "Vegan Palette" and a whole section dedicated to their Vegan Products has gone non cruelty free has upset me. It is disgusting to me and I will not buy the Naked 3 Palette or whatever their gotta get me hands on palette will be. As a makeup artist I will find new things to use for my clients, I will be slowly buying stuff to replace the old products.

If you see anything reviewed on my page that is not cruelty free these are products I already received to review. I will not accept any new products that are tested on animals. I don't eat meat,I no longer consume dairy or eggs. I will not buy leather, and the next logical move is to stop buying from companies that mistreat animals. I will also always try to offer healthy, organic, natural beauty products.

I hope you will enjoy the turn my blog will be taking. It will be difficult for me but I hope help those who are trying decide what is right for them decide to make the jump.
I always buy with the best of intentions, so if you see any new purchases that are not cruelty fee please let me now. I will NEVER knowingly buy products that are not cruelty free,I will appreciate any positive comments.

Thanks again,

Heather

  1. Congratulations!!! I have been cruelty-free since my teens when I first became a vegetarian, and then I went vegan, so all my makeup truly is 100% cruelty-free-- no animal products nor testing. It may be a bit more challenging to find some products, but I will tell you that your conscience will be clear and you will feel much better.

I, too, am very upset about Urban Decay. I don't have a ton of products from them, but the ones I do have I enjoy. I didn't purchase the Naked palettes because they weren't vegan, but I recently found a mineral makeup company called Silk Naturals who have a vegan dupe for the Naked palette: http://host.silknaturals.com/creb/naked-palette-clone-p-1200.html

Congrats again and please let me know if you have any questions about going cruelty-free. I am trying to start up my own vegan beauty blog in my free time. :)

  2. I am so bummed about UD and MAC. They didn't need to at all but of course they did. Makes me sick! I am no longer buying from them either. I am sticking to cruelty free brands as well. Still figuring out who is and isn't but I have cut tons out already and will do so!

    1. Miranda this is so great, I know its hard to know for sure. A lot of companies say they are but their packaging does not include the bunny or state they are cruelty free. So I am curious if they really are or not.

I am excited we can take this journey together!

  3. I've been heavily debating going all cruelty free with my future makeup purchases, but the whole Urban Decay thing really made up my mind. I think I'm going to be taking this step as well. After all, it IS totally unnecessary!I don't want to support animal testing with my purchase.

  4. Awww Heather that's absolutely AWESOME! I'ms always delighted to see that more and more bloggers are turning to the "bright side"! For me, the next logical step would be to go vegan, but there's not enough "fake dairy" option here, and I absolutely can't stand soy milk, almond milk or the like... ):

    1. I have tried to slowly stop buying cruelty free products and in my daily life I try to make smart purchases such as fair trade and equal exchange products.

I try to stay away from soy as much as possible. I love the almond/coconut blend milk unsweetened it is a great for cereal and creamer for my coffee.I didn't like almond milk as much as coconut milk.

Thanks for the comment Gaby always great to hear from you!
