How to get Little Mermaid Red Hair-aka Ariel Red

by - 6:00 AM

First a little history on my hair, it has been every shade under the sun plus variations of those colors. Recently in the past year it has been black, brown, auburn, and lastly before red it was Ombre. However, with the sun, swimming pools, harsh water, it started turning different shades of blonde. Which included orange, white, yellow and a hint of green. However about 4-5 inches from my roots down was natural regrowth of brown hair hence the ombre.

My hair curled to try and hide the many shades my hair was turning.

It worked for awhile but eventually after I tried to brightening it up a little it went tragically wrong and I knew it was time for a change. After Youtube video's and google searches I couldn't find a lot on going bright red. Auburn and Strawberry blonde was out there but not so much blonde to Ariel. I just bit the bullet and went to Sally  Beauty and bought what goodies I wanted and this is what I picked up.

1.1 packet of violet bleach and 30 developer
2.2 containers of Manic Panic Rock and Roll Red
3.Plastic bowl,brush and Gloves

So the girl at Sally told me I would only need 1 packet of bleach and to add shampoo and do a bleach cap. I sat with it on my roots, and underneath my hair until it turned bright orange (I am talking BRIGHT orange) I washed it out, let my hair dry and then applied 1.5 containers of the Rock and Roll red. I left it on for 45 minutes and washed it out. I fell in love with it immediately, however when the hubby came home he said their was a patch in the back that was still dark brown. I had somehow missed an entire section of the back of my hair plus behind my ear. So I let my hair dry and we ran out to Wal-Mart considering by this time it was 11 and nowhere else was open.

I saw this box called Splat Luscious Raspberries, and it contained bleach and this bright red color. So I got home had the hubby apply bleach to all spots that were missed and it turned orange. So then I mixed a little of the SPLAT and the Manic Panic and applied to the spots that were missed and then what was left over to the rest of my hair. This is the result that I got when it was all done.

No makeup (hide your kids, hide you wife)

I could not love it anymore, it is perfect and exactly what I wanted and all one shade. This is a warning before dying your hair if you are not one for attention don't do it hehe. Everywhere I go men and young girls will tell me how much they love my hair. I had a Justin Bieber moment in a store the other day I saw 3 young girls running down an aisle towards me.I thought maybe Justin Bieber had been spotted in store. They came up to me telling me how much they loved my hair, and if I know anything about tweens it's that they aren't afraid to tell you if they don't like something hehe.  If you are considering going red, do it don't wait another minute heh.If you have any questions I will do my best to help you out. However, dye at your own risk because I cannot be held responsible for any hair disaster meltdowns hehe

Before you know it this will be you too!

What fun color have you dyed your hair? Let me know what you think about me being a super awesome mermaid! Thanks for stopping by!
