Beauty Updates and Mini Reviews

New and Old Bottle (image from

I have the old bottle of this L'oreal Eye Makeup Remover. I found it buried in the back of my beauty closet after I had ran out of my other eye makeup remover. If I remember correctly this was in my stocking last year because I ask for stuff like this for Christmas stocking stuffers hehe. I have been using it for 2 weeks, and I must say I love it. Because,
my husband came home from work and I had been out running errands he said did you wear your fake lashes to get the groceries today. I didn't have on fake lashes just same old mascara, except I have been using this product. It is the only thing I have changed in my eye routine in 2 weeks so it must be this. I can feel my lashes  touching my brow bone when I blink without mascara on. During a trial run this week I had a client tell me she loved the lashes I had on, could I use them on her. I told her my story and she is going to go out and buy it and try it herself. I wear eye primers and waterproof everything and it still takes it all off. I just put a dab on a cotton square and use one for each eye to avoid a raccoon look a like contest.
Have you Tried it?

Tea Tree Oil Update:

Now that it has been almost 2 weeks I must say that I am loving this product. When I first got it I was applying it with a q-tip to the acne/breakouts that I had. I had noticed at the time that my redness was improving a lot. Now 2 weeks into to it I must say that I am using as a toner all over my face. I have managed to not only stop breakouts, but to dry them up before they can become a problem and scar. Now my skin isn't perfect especially this weekend when my "friend" came to visit. I got a few breakouts around my mouth and chin like always. However, throughout the weekend I applied Tea Tree Oil to the problem area's and all over. Nothing ever appeared, it dried them up and they went away. I am wearing my mineral foundation today without any form of concealer. My skin has no redness, and I am currently as I am blogging zit free. I may publish this bad boy and go find that not to be the case but as of now I am clear :)

It is an anti bacteria killer, and I feel like using it as a toner all over stops that oil and bacteria from seeping into my skin at night while I sleep. For $8 at Wal-Mart you can better believe I will be buying this again and again. If you try it let me know what you think, be careful I have heard it has dried out other people's skin. My skin is very sensitive, but with it being oily and acne prone I think it didn't dry out for that reason.

Hair update: My hair went from this pretty Auburn shade that I dyed it a month ago to this!

I don't hate it, it's at least a natural shade of hair still and didn't turn a weird green/ash shade. I think because my hair was so blonde before that it just won't hold the pigmentation from the hair dye. Mine is a little darker than this but it shows very accurately how it's getting blonder by the day. I am going to see how long I can go without having to dye it. Usually with blonde hair it was at least every 3 weeks so I am already a week later than I would have been.

I do get bored very easily so it is a possibility that by the New Year I may have short platinum blonde hair hehe. It's hair it will grow back, and if it doesn't you can fake it :)

A New Challenge

I have officially started my newest challenge for myself it's the 30 Day Shred. I have a goal weight or size that I want to be for Christmas. I want to try something new and this will be what I am doing for the next 30 days. I have mentioned before that I am a vegetarian with vegan tendencies. I try to not eat dairy I can go months where I don't consume any at all. I can elaborate on my meals and snacks if anyone is curious.

I will let you know how this works out for me in 30days. I have a pair of jeans that I bought in my idea size and they don't fit too great yet. Christmas is filled with parties and seeing people you haven't seen in some cases since last the last holiday get together.I not only want to look better but I want to start the year off right with being the best version of myself yet. So if anyone is interested in joining me in my get fit journey, let me know! We can challenge each other, well I am off of here to go workout.

Let's not wait to the new year to change bad habits, let's get a fresh start and look great even before the New Year gets here!

Beauty Tips from Emma Watson

Being a huge fan of the Harry Potter movies I fell in love with little Emma Watson some years ago. Now that she is a beautiful adult in her early 20's I think she is turning into such a style icon. She spoke with people recently about her favorite beauty items.
Here is a little bit of her interview to check out the rest go over to

The secret to her trademark look, which includes flawless skin, bold brows and a pinch of glamour, is an arsenal of reliable beauty tools. “I’m a creature of habit,” she tells of$45 Giorgio Armani “Beauty Luminous” silk powder (bottom right). “I like to find what works and keep buying it.” She also brightens up with bronzer or blush, like Yves Saint Laurent’s $38 Crème de Blush (top left) because, as Watson puts it, “I am so pale and English.

For that kewpie lash effect, the star looks to $25 “Hypnôse Doll” mascara (bottom left) by Lancôme, for which she is an ambassador. “I’m big into Twiggy so I do bottom lashes and top lashes,” she explains. “This is really cool because it is specifically designed to get that look.

Tea Tree Oil is it a skin saver?

100% Tea Tree Oil by Spring Valley 2floz $8.00

I have scene and heard a few people talking about Tea Tree Oil for there breakouts. I am always looking for something to help my skin out. I have been an avid Pro Activ user for almost 2 years now, it doesn't stop the small breakouts but it completely stopped cystic acne. Pro Activ also dries out my skin so bad that I look like I may have had a few chemical peels.

So on Sunday I bought this Tea Tree Oil from Wal-Mart for $8.00 and when I got home I took off my makeup and put some on a cotton square and put it all over my face. Before I went to bed I took a q-tip and put it on just my breakouts. I didn't notice any difference when I woke up, but hey it didn't promise miracles. Today is Tuesday and the redness in on my skin that was left by Pro Activ is gone. I don't have any new breakouts and the ones I did have are completely dried out. So I am going to give it more time it's obviously too soon to tell anything for sure. Just be warned that your loved ones may ask you to sleep outdoors it does have a strong aroma. My husband asked me if I had bathed in Vapor Rub, that's always a sexy scent heh.

Here are some of the benefits that Tea Tree Oil claims to have...

Tea Tree Oil has wonderful properties that makes it a popular natural agent for curing all three types of infectious organisms: fungus, bacteria, and virus. More importantly, it is known to effectively fight a number of infections that are resistant to some antibiotics. Therefore, Tea Tree Oil is an excellent natural remedy for hundreds of bacterial and fungal skin ailments such as acne, abscess, oily skin, blisters, sun burns, athlete's foot, warts, herpes, insect bites, rashes, dandruff and other minor wounds and irritations.

If you have sensitive skin they suggest you dilute it first, I have acne prone/combination skin and haven't had to dilute it as of yet. Let me know what you think!

New ELF haul and swatches

ELF Eyeshadow Palette in Warm $5.00

3 of the new shades in shadows sunset, purple passion and sea blue

cream blush in Flirt $6.00

Body Shimmer in Cosmic Coral

ELF Beauty School Blush Palette $3.00
(not available anymore)

When I placed the order I found a half off code on a website so everything but the Blush Palette was half off the listed price above.

Let me just say that I am usually disappointed with these ELF eye shadow palettes they have hardly any good colors so I never use them. I was however intrigued by the Warm palette and wanted to try it out. As you can see the shadows are actually nice, sure they are a little chalky but I do my shadow first so it's not a big deal you get beautiful colors.

The shadow singles are actually also very nice and not as chalky as the all the other single shadows I have from ELF. I will be using sunset as a blush because its a beautiful coral/gold shade. The blue and purple are very pretty without a primer but if you have the cream shadows in teal party and purple pleaser these will look nice over them.

I only bought one cream blush because I have read some terribly reviews about them. I am a fool for $6.00 this is an amazing blush(even better for the $3.00 I paid). It is more of a mouse blush but it applies beautiful and stays all day. I have been wearing it everyday and it stays put even through the crummy weather we have been having. The body shimmer is a beautiful color and reminds me of my Cannes by Nars. I know it's more of a coral than Cannes but on the face blended out its pretty similar. I only paid $1.50 but without knowing much about it I didnt want to go crazy and buy them all. I will however be buying the rest because this really only takes a little bit and you will be a glowing goddess hehe.

The blush palette is actually a lot nicer than I expected again it has been ripped apart on You Tube I assumed it was gonna arrive and be the worst thing I had ever tried. I am actually loving it the lightest pink shade is almost an exact dupe of MAC pink swoon. I have been using it over flirt the cream blush and it just gives you that baby doll pink cheek.

Okay, that's all so let me know if you have any specific questions. As always I love to hear from you and what you are loving from ELF.

DIY Sparkle Brushes

These are just basic black cheap brushes that I use a lot, one from ELF and one from Studio Tools. I have many reasons for painting the handles other than just wanting something glittery to look at :)
As a makeup artist when you are working with other makeup artist or just working around a lot of people you cannot always keep an eye on your stuff. I have had many MAC brushes stolen on photo shoots. When they all look the same you can't call someone out for having your brush.

I decided after it happened a second time to just put my mark on the brushes. If anyone else has a sparkle brush its probably gonna be mine.
Now onto the steps!

1.Take a basic brush any color I think the glitter shows up better the black brushes.
If you want to take a black polish(or whatever color your brush is) and paint over the name on the handle of the brush ie:Elf,Studio Tools,ECO Tools. Just use a light coat let it dry and then if need paint over it again. That way your brush is defiantly different from anyone else because your name is blacked out.

2.Pick you favorite glitter polish, I use the cheapest glitter from NYC or Sinful Colors.
3. Paint one coat and let it dry, if you are impatient you can use a spray top coat to help speed up the drying process.
4.Try another glitter as the second layer to give it a really pretty sparkle effect. When the light hits my brushes it will blind you heh.
5. Finish off with a top coat if you wish, I don't unless the glitter I used ends up looking dull then I use a top coat.
6.Let set overnight before you stick back into your brush roll or try and use just to be sure.

I have used a polish that has some color too it and glitter it also works pretty good I always use a topcoat in that case.
You could also use a clear polish and sprinkle glitter but I recommend keeping the glitter on the end of the brush. Even with a topcoat it is rough and doesn't make for easy use but if you have hot pink tips on your brushes you will be able to spot them a mile away :)

My mac brushes I taped off an area at the end and painted them a beautiful burgundy with silver glitter. I haven't lost any brushes since I started doing this. I do get asked a lot about my brushes so it makes for good conversation. I had a bride tell me she felt so fancy having her makeup done with brushes made of diamonds hehe.

I know ELF sold a set of glitter brushes last year sometime, and they sold old so fast I never got to see them. If you try it out let me know what you think!

Take Me Home Tonight

Going from Platinum to Brown Hair at Home

I am not a professional, I am just an at home hair Do It Yourselfer :) So please take this as what worked for me and only,ONLY try this if you have experience with what works on your hair.

First I started out with Platinum almost White hair that has been dyed from a box this shade for years. I am however naturally a dirty blonde so my roots were being touched up every 3 weeks. I use to have long thick dirty blonde/dark blonde hair forever, until I got the bleach blonde urge.

I wanted to give my hair a rest and dye it back to it's original color and just let it be for hopefully the next few months. Here is what worked for me going from platinum blonde to dark blonde or light brown at home.(This is the process to get light brown or dark blonde, I fell in love with my hair much darker when I dyed it so I kept the dark auburn hair and I will tell you how to what I used to get this too) This is also a helpful tutorial if you have dyed your hair from blonde to brown and it turned green/khaki/grey and you want HELP!Just start this process like you hadn't dyed it and this will save your tresses.

1.Condition your hair for a week leading up to this process you don't want your hair to break off.
2.If you live near a Sally Beauty or Beauty Supply go buy Protein Pack for your hair and use it a day or 2 before you plan on dyeing it.
3.Going darker won't kill your hair as much as going lighter will but it still isn't filling your hair with sunshine and sprinkles.
4.Going from blonde to dark blonde sounds easy peasy, but it is a 2 step process.
5.You must first go red to add the brassy red tones back to your hair that you have worked for years to get rid of with all your might.
6.I bought a dark auburn hair dye, if you aren't wanting dark brown hair please buy a Fire Engine red hair dye almost orange because you cannot lift dark brown hair with a box without bleaching it. So for light brown hair or dark blonde buy BRIGHT red, fiery red, orangey red hair dye for your first step because you can make it darker so don't worry.
I left the Auburn dye on my hair for 40-45minutes starting with my ends because they are more damaged and get less oils. I completely saturated my ends and then worked my way up, I also added a little water to the empty bottle of dye and rewet my ends after about 10 minutes. The ends of my hair don't like to take color because they are a little more dry than the rest of my hair.
(Hayley Williams of Paramore is the example for orangish hair
not my photo-no copyright intended )
(You want it to be this shade to get the brassy tone back into your hair preferably without the highlights but its okay it will give your hair depth.
7.Then pick out a box of hair dye that your desired shade,my original shade was Medium Blonde 8 by Clairol Nice and Easy Color Blend Foam
8.I fell in love with my Auburn hair but thought let me just try this foam and see what it does. It did nothing to my hair however for me this product was AWFUL. It stinks so bad I think I killed any brain cells I had left, it burned my forehead after about 10 minutes. It wasn't messy, but it was an odd application squeezing the foam from the bottle instead of pumping. It didn't change my hair color at all which is okay for me because I love the auburn.  However it is 10bucks and that's totally a lip gloss I could have bought :)

9. If your hair is the orangey bright red it will take the dark blonde/brown shade and make your hair a beautiful natural looking shade. I did this last year and it worked perfectly. I kept it for about 6 months before I went back blonde, then eventually platinum, again.

My hair turned out to look like this after one box. This is the color I am sticking with for now and hopefully when it starts fading it doesn't require me dying it again heh.

So if I confused you, I am sorry and hopefully this will help you. I always dye my hair blonde in the fall and dark in the summer which is opposite for most girls. I hope you enjoy and you know that if you have any questions please ask!

Do you have any hair dying disasters? I have been to stylist and gotten worse hair cuts and dye jobs than I have given myself. I payed 80bucks for apparently a Kate Gosselin when I wanted a Posh hehe live and learn
